      Oh say can you see,

      by the dawn's early light,

      what kept us so fearful

      through the long, troubled night.

      And what's that over there

      on the nursery chair

it could be the bogey man

      or just your teddy bear.

      And oh what a storm

      Did it keep you awake

      when the lightening forked

and the thunder made things shake.

Did you see the dark shapes

      looking just like big apes

      or could they have been

      just the billowing drapes.

Now the long night is over

and I suppose we're all right

but I hope there will never again

      be such a terrible night.

      Oh sister please answer

      your silence I can't bare.

I look to her bed space

      My sister's not there.
